Cheers to the Weekend

While I didn’t come across a ton of food news this week, today is OFFICIALLY THE FIRST DAY OF FALL which means that soon we’ll be seeing more and more pumpkin desserts, butternut squash, apple tarts, cinnamon in everything, and warm & hearty comfort food! Next week, stay tuned for blog posts on Hartford’s newest coffeeshop, Story and Soil Coffee, and a delivery service that brings New Canaan/Norwalk/Darien residents healthy eats!

#trending: Charcoal Food

One of my old roommates swore by drinking water mixed with charcoal powder as a way to cleanse her system and all over my Instagram feed are charcoal infused ice cream cones. This NY Times read is a really interesting read about the history and fascination of midnight black-colored food in our hungry culture!

Best Bartender in 06820

I’ve heard of bartending and mixology contests happening quite often across the state. My boyfriend shared this article with me about a recent contest that happened in Darien, CT. Congrats to Rory’s Restaurant in Darien for winning based on their grapefruit vodka and prosecco cocktail concoction!

Sangria To-Go

As you know, my favorite part of this blog is highlighting the incredible local foodies and foodmakers in Connecticut! I just read this interview in Connecticut Magazine  about John Bello, a Plainville native who launched SoBe beverages, a line of teas, juices, and boxed wines!

Pretty Pasta

If you need inspiration for your next pasta dish, a guide for taking bright and colorful food photos, or let’s face it, if you’re just plain procrastinating, check out this Tumblr account! It’s literally just photos of pretty pasta and I want to eat it ALL!

Cheers to the Weekend!
